So Craigslist won’t take any responsibility for their role in connecting Kiya to the abusers who tortured her on a daily basis. Their statement may be legally valid but morally questionable. For the record, my dog was found on Craigslist, but I am a Mama Bear who had intentions of protecting him his whole life. Sadly, sadistic abusers have as much of a chance to take home a cat or dog to mutilate, as the loving pet parent. No background check, no running of fingerprints, nothing. Just $100 or less or even free to a good or evil home. Craigslist is in a position to do much better to protect the animals marketed on the site. They don’t seem to be making any modifications to how their website is used to buy and sell pets. How much more Puppy Doe cases do they want to facilitate? One was too much for me.
A petition was started on Change.org asking Craigslist to help stop violence against animals. For more information, click here.
